Editor

Nexus Business Media Ltd, organiser of the ECOC (European Conference on Optical Communications) 2014 exhibition, which this year is being held in Cannes, has now announced the hot-topics for its pioneering Market Focus sessions for September this year.

First launched in Cannes and now back for its ninth year the Market Focus, with new sponsors Inphi, is once again set to be the highlight of the optical communications calendar addressing topical issues from around the industry. Professionals are being called to submit their interest in speaking for the opportunity to share their work and industry related news at Europe’s largest optical show.

This year’s programme features a broad selection of informative and on-trend optical communications sessions and topics including data centres: optics in cloud computing, future applications, mass-market broadband fibre access and software defined networks.

The topics for this year’s market focus have been decided by the ECOC exhibition Advisory Panel, which includes global representatives from across the optical communications space with a selection of independent industry bodies, analyst groups, system vendors, telecom operators and component manufacturers. Frank Chang from Inphi and photonics industry expert Bimal Nayar, are the newest additions to the experienced Committee which will again be chaired by Per Danielsen, editor of Telekommunikation.

“The Market Focus is one of the highlights of the exhibition and we have worked tremendously hard over the years to make it the great success it is today,” said Beverley Lucas, Group Event Manager for Nexus Business Media Ltd, organisers of the ECOC exhibition.
In 2013 Market Focus surpassed all expectations, attracting over 1,700 attendees to the sessions over the three days, growing the audience for a 3rd year in a row, with presentations from leading companies including Vodafone, Google, Neophotonics, Ovum, OpSis, LightCounting and FTTHCouncil.

“The 2014 Market Focus is predicted to once again be the pillar of the optical industry to speak at and every year we get a great host of speakers who have always made an outstanding contribution and given ECOC its world class agenda, we are even increasing the seating in the theatre for Cannes to cope with the demand” Beverley added.

Individuals interested in speaking at the ECOC exhibition Market Focus should contact emma.harvey@nexusmediaevents by Friday 27th June 2014 applicants are asked to submit their topic of interest accompanied by 100 word summary of their presentation theme and title.
