Next month’s ECOC (European Conference on Optical Communications) Exhibition, is already set to be smashing record highs, with visitor registrations already up by 42%, exhibition stand bookings on the increase and a speaker line-up for the Market Focus resembling a “who’s who” of the industry.

The three days of the Market Focus have been divided into three main topic areas – Optical Integration and Digital Photonics, Optical Network Advances and Service Providers and Networks. Companies and organisations represented include Google, Oclaro, NEC Corporation, Ciena, Ovum, Infinera, Vodafone, Alcatel-Lucent, JDSU, the FTTH Council and many more.

Speakers include Mike Short, former head of BT and President of the IET, Yves LeMaitre, COO of Oclaro, Jorg-Peter Elbers, Director at ADVA and Atul Srivastava, CTO at NTT Electronics America.

“As we get closer to the big day, the momentum is building considerably,” said Beverley Lucas, Group Event Manager for Nexus Business Media, organisers of the ECOC Exhibition.

“We are encouraged by the pre-event visitor registrations, and the sheer quality of the speaking submissions for the Market Focus this year has made judging the most difficult task we have ever faced since we started, six years ago”.

The Market Focus is being sponsored by Oclaro. Other new sponsors confirmed include M2fx and Senko in the FTTx area, Source Photonics, GigOptix and Pilot Photonics which is sponsoring the new Twitter Wall. Visit http://www.ecocexhibition.com/2012_Sponsors for the full list of exhibition sponsors.

Attendance at the Market Focus is looking to top the thousand mark for the first time, with the first sessions starting on the opening day – September 17 – at 12.15pm with a topical presentation from Mike Short, entitled “The data revolution and some digital lessons from the London 2012 Games”.

The content for the sessions has been overseen and agreed by a panel of highly-respected industry experts that make up the ECOC Exhibition Advisory Committee and includes a wide range of representatives from across the technology and optical communications sphere.
