Fibre-Free Solutions are the Key to Connecting Hard-to-Access Areas, says The Kenton Group

Leading network access specialist urges Service Providers to take note of fibre alternatives at Broadband World Forum

Service Providers must seriously consider fibre-free solutions to address the issue of providing ultrafast connectivity to the most hard-to-access areas, the Kenton Group has urged.

Speaking at the Kenton Group booth at Broadband World Forum 2015, Commercial Director Lee Palmer said that fibre is not the only ultrafast solution and businesses in particular should be considering their options.

“There are still a large number of businesses in areas that are deemed unsuitable for fibre – be it due to the current footprint or the high cost of Fibre to the Premises solutions – that are missing out on ultrafast broadband,” said Palmer. “The Kenton Group’s Velocity Lite solution can provide customers ultrafast data access of speeds up to 320Mb, enabling them to harness the benefits of the cloud and to prioritise critical data and services with true Quality of Service.”

Velocity Lite – currently on show for the first time at Broadband World Forum in London – offers Service Providers a cost effective and resilient alternative to fibre when delivering ultrafast data access to customers.

“We are committed to delivering innovative products that offer reliability and a low total cost of ownership to our customers,” said Palmer. “Velocity Lite can help them enhance their broadband speed and improve the resilience of their data services, which have suffered due to overdependence on critical cloud based services up until now.”

Kenton’s Velocity Lite utilises four VDSL2+ modems to provide customers with a high-performance solution which has passed BT’s conformance testing for connection to the FTTC network. This allows exceptionally fast deployment compared to traditional fibre delivery.

The Velocity Lite has been designed to work across multiple market sectors, including for carriers, ISPs and local governments. Typical applications for the Velocity Lite include high speed internet access, streaming of video and music, gaming, TV over Wi-Fi, a residential Wi-Fi access point, small cell backhaul and a fixed line and mobile resilient network router.

The Kenton Group continues to affirm itself as one of Europe’s fastest growing network access specialists with a client portfolio that includes BT, TalkTalk Business and Virgin Media. The Group is currently attending Broadband World Forum at ExCeL London, 20-22 October, alongside technology partner SmartRG to showcase a range of network access solutions for service providers around the globe.
