Fujikura Europe has announced that it will be showcasing its latest fibre splicing technology at ECOC 2015.

Among the products on show will be the 22S – a new advanced FTTH splicer for single fibre which is the world’s smallest and lightest active V-groove model.

The 22S – the latest addition to Fujikura’s splicer range – is designed for high-end FTTH splicer applications in FTTX, Data Centre / LAN and Access Networks and offers an active V-groove alignment single fibre splicer for reliable and improved splicing performance for a range of different fibres, such as SMF, MMF, DSF, and NZDSF.

The new and improved 70S – Fujikura’s gold standard single fibre splicer – will also be exhibited at this year’s show. Specifically designed for speed, durability and ergonomics, the 70S is the fastest splicer on the market, with a splicing time of just six seconds and an improved shrink time of nine seconds.

The 70S has a rugged construction design to provide the highest reliability by resisting shock, rain and dust, allowing it to withstand a 30 inch drop test on six sides. It also features a wind protector and a tube heater which has been developed for quicker splicing cycles and to reduce the number of operational steps. The unit also includes a high-resolution LCD monitor, powerful Li-ion battery for longer operation time and built in videos for on-the-go training.

“We are delighted to announce that our newest splicer and our gold standard splicer will be on display at Europe’s flagship optical conference,” said Neil Bessant, Fusion Splicer Divisional Manager of Fujikura Europe. “We have designed the 70S to be ergonomic, fast and to have great durability whilst reducing splicing time to just seven seconds, and the 22S delivers high-quality splicing without a higher price tag. I am sure visitors will be impressed by our splicers, as well as the other equipment we have on show.”

Fujikura will also be promoting its FLP-G series of high power (75W) pulsed fibre lasers for the OEM market. Its patented, unique optical design provides many end user benefits including unprecedented deep engraving capabilities on high-melting-point metals. Light and compact, the FLP-G series offers laser machines/systems much greater flexibility in assembly.

Alongside the 22S, 70S and FLP-G series at ECOC 2015 will be a range of Fujikura’s splicing accessories, an expanded portfolio of optical test equipment and passive solutions for Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) installations.
FTTH is a technology that uses fibre optic cable to deliver telephone, data and video services from the operator`s transmitter equipment to the end user`s home or business. Fibre optic cables have the capacity for an incredible amount of data, which is becoming a necessity in today’s world.
