Quick-Fit Plus Rapid Connector System from HUBER+SUHNER set to Revolutionize IBC/DAS Deployment in the US Market

Editor

World first demonstration of new solution at CTIA Super Mobility 2015 in Las Vegas

Launched globally for the first time and with live demonstrations this week at CTIA Super Mobility 2015, HUBER+SUHNER is presenting a revolutionary new connector system that will dramatically reduce the time required to assemble and deploy cables and connectors for IBC/DAS applications (Distributed Antenna Systems for In-Building Communications). The solution covers a range of cables including the plenum cables used in the US market.

HUBER+SUHNER, a global leader in connectivity solutions, is showcasing a range of powerful new IBC/DAS and small cell solutions and demonstrating how easy they are to deploy with its Quick-Fit and Quick-Fit plus assembly processes.

HUBER+SUHNER’s ground-breaking new field mountable connector system – the Quick-Fit plus – offers one-piece design and an extremely fast, easy and reliable assembly process for ½” corrugated cables used in Distributed Antenna Systems with the help of a unique, patented all-in-one cable preparing tool. The company’s range of Quick-Fit connectors are renowned worldwide for quality and are available for a variety of corrugated cables with N, 4.1/9.5, 4.3-10 as well as 7/16 interfaces.

With no loose parts and a minimum of assembly tools, these field mountable connectors offer a greatly simplified and cost-effective approach to cable preparation and assembly. The Quick-Fit product line meets the requirements of multi-carrier, high channel-count transceivers such as base stations in today’s indoor and outdoor mobile communication infrastructures.

Quick-Fit plus
The new Quick-Fit plus connector system and clean cable preparing process has a one-piece compact design that eliminates loose parts such as O Rings and washers. This allows an extremely easy and rapid assembly process and removes the need for additional steps such as application of grease on sealings. The innovative cable entry design allows the connectors to be mounted using a standard wrench, eliminating the need for expensive tools or calibrated torque wrenches.

SUCOFEED ½ inch plenum white cable
Designed to support the installation of plenum cables, the Quick-Fit plus solution works in conjunction with HUBER+SUHNER’s SUCOFEED ½ inch plenum white cable. This is a plenum-rated wideband coaxial cable designed to deliver outstanding electrical performance up to 6 GHz and supports wireless in-building plenum applications. This plenum cable has a star-shaped profile of extruded low loss dielectric and a solid copper outer conductor which provides excellent RF shielding.

“Cable preparation of a corrugated plenum cable is as important as the use of a reliable connector system in achieving best performance in field mountable connectors,” said Jürg Nussbaumer of HUBER+SUHNER. “Minor mistakes in the cable-preparing process can cause significant performance issues such as bad passive intermodulation (PIM) or water ingress into the system.”

To combat this, HUBER+SUHNER has developed a unique cable preparing tool, an all-in-one tool that requires minimal connector installation time and few assembly steps. This easy-to-handle, easy-to-carry tool can be used in both manual and automatic operation.

Unique assembly tools for Quick-Fit plus
The unique all-in-one assembly tools allow the installer to prepare the cable through a fully controlled process, eliminating operator errors and resulting in perfect cable preparation with guarantees of no swarfs or burrs. This perfectly designed cable preparation process, along with the one-piece connector design, removes the risk of passive intermodulation due to connectors in the overall system or network.
