Fast Forward to 5G at the 5G World Summit

Editor

The implementation of 5G networks across the globe will enable estimated average speeds of 10Gb/s, paving the way for the successful commercial rollout of a multitude of new services including smart sensors, augmented reality, interactive HD TV, social gaming and smart transportation. However the road to 5G still has a long way to go, which is why leading representatives from all parts of the 5G ecosystem will gather at the 5G World Summit (24-25 June) to examine the need for 5G, address what the network will look like and share ideas on the transition from 4G.

The exhibition will be held at the Amsterdam RAI and will be co-located with the LTE World Summit. Over 85 countries will be represented at the biggest LTE/5G exhibition of its kind, with many of these countries working hard to be the first to commercially rollout 5G – and all of these ideas and visions will be shared under one roof.

Key topics for 2015 include: Innovation and Migration toward 5G, Opportunities for Virtualization of the 5G Network, 5G Key Requirements: Technologies and Services, MNO’s Plans and Strategies for 5G, as well as new content for this year on 5G Toward 2020 and Beyond. Visitors will also join discussions on how the extensive 5G network will enable the Internet of Things, by using its high speeds to allow devices to easily communicate with one another in an extremely reliable manner.

The exhibition attendees will include over 42% C-level executives setting the framework for 5G and over 150 operator case studies will be presented from across the entire globe, sharing insights, concerns and priorities for the next generation deployment. This will include case studies from the leading Asian operators SK Telecom, LG U+ and NTT DoCoMo. Some of the 5G visionary speakers confirmed include:

• Dr. Eric Kuisch, CTO, Vodafone Germany
• Olaf Swantee, CEO, EE
• Chang Kil Jo, Vice President of Technology Development Centre, LG U+
• Jin-Hyo Park, Senior Vice President of Network R&D Center, SK Telecom
• Antonio Amendola, Executive Director for International External Affairs, AT&T
• Takehiro Nakamura, VP & Director RAN, NTT DoCoMo
• Dr. Bernard Barnani, Deputy Head of Unit, European Commission

A unique opportunity to network with potential partners and clients will also be provided via the popular Executive Speed Networking service, which has 30 hours of networking scheduled in 50 minute sessions, allowing attendees to maximise their presence at the event.

5G World Summit will take place at the Amsterdam RAI, Netherlands, on 24-25 June 2015.
