Movius Makes CAFÉ Globally Available

Editor

Movius Interactive Corporation, a leader in communication applications, announced today the latest release of its revolutionary CAFÉ platform. The Communication Applications Framework Engine enables service providers to offer a constant flow of new, market relevant and innovative applications that embrace the OTT (Over-The-Top) trend, and converge the telecommunications world and the mobile internet world with tangible, deployable applications.

The new release builds upon the earlier version launched at the beginning of this year. The first version has demonstrated to customers the ability to rapidly deploy applications which bridge the traditional (and unnecessary) boundaries which exist between the Internet and telecom worlds, allowing service providers to better monetize their end users’ usage of their networks and leverage network assets.

“The second release further enhances our position that service providers must better adapt to the changing usage patterns of their subscribers,” said Dominic Gomez, Movius President and CEO. “End users are now using devices – particularly smartphones – for non-voice applications more than for voice in many areas of the world. To date, service providers have watched OTT providers deploy and monetize high-value services using the service providers’ data pipes. CAFÉ shows that service providers no longer have to watch their core assets being commoditized, but can instead be an integral part of the end user value proposition by deploying rich applications to their subscribers.”

Release two of CAFÉ, like release one before it, can be deployed either in a customer’s network or in a hosted cloud environment, and is available with a comprehensive suite of built-in applications and a full multi-tenant architecture. This makes it ideal not only for service provider offering services to end users, but also to enable Mobile Virtual Network Operators to offer differentiated services to their subscribers.

“With CAFÉ and its controlled applications eco-system which is integral to this release, we are able to provide a fixed line carrier with a viable mobile presence and a mobile carrier with revenue-generating applications for their Social Local Mobile Internet end-user,” said Amit Modi, SVP and GM Products, Services and Technology at Movius.

This release offers APIs to further enhance the CAFÉ Application Development Kit (ADK), which allows service providers and third-party developers to rapidly deploy new applications to end users.

“The ability to quickly develop and deploy applications using the CAFÉ ADK is one of the elements which resonates the most with our customers,” added Gomez. “Service providers know that they must become a part of the application revolution if they are to most effectively reap the benefits of the larger data pipes they are deploying. CAFÉ offers service providers the ability to do just this, instead of sitting on the sidelines and watching OTT providers gain customer mindshare.”
