{"id":6178,"date":"2016-09-20T11:35:19","date_gmt":"2016-09-20T11:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.telecomstalk.com\/?p=6178"},"modified":"2018-06-06T09:56:27","modified_gmt":"2018-06-06T09:56:27","slug":"small-cell-forum-announces-new-board-members-support-path-5g","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.telecomstalk.com\/?p=6178","title":{"rendered":"Small Cell Forum Announces New Board and Members to Support Path to 5G"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Small Cell Forum (SCF) has welcomed 18 new members from across the wireless and Internet ecosystems, further expanding the organisation\u2019s breadth of expertise, and strengthening its work in laying the groundwork for robust and interoperable 5G networks. <\/p>\n<p>The new members are: Access Technologies (Alphabet), Alpha Wireless, Cirrus Core Networks, Commscope, Corning, ExteNet Systems, Indigo Wireless, Ixia, Kathrein, Luminet, Keysight Technologies, Ranzure Networks, Samsung Electronics America, Sooktha, T-Mobile, Truphone, Viavi Solutions and device manufacturer ZTE. <\/p>\n<p>Small Cell Forum also announced its newly elected board, to be chaired by AT&#038;T\u2019s David Orloff. The new board comprises:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022         Paul Senior, Airspan<br \/>\n\u2022         Prabhakar Chitrapu, AT&#038;T<br \/>\n\u2022         Mark Grayson, Cisco Systems<br \/>\n\u2022         Luigi Tarlazzi, CommScope<br \/>\n\u2022         Martin Ljunberg, Ericsson<br \/>\n\u2022         Nansen Ding, Huawei<br \/>\n\u2022         Nick Johnson, ip.access<br \/>\n\u2022         Mike Cronin, Node-H<br \/>\n\u2022         Randy Cox, Nokia<br \/>\n\u2022         Caleb Banke, Qualcomm Technologies Inc.<br \/>\n\u2022         Tareq Amin, Reliance Jio<br \/>\n\u2022         Thad Lowe, Samsung Electronics America<br \/>\n\u2022         Aya Mukaikubo, SoftBank Corp<br \/>\n\u2022         Art King, SpiderCloud Wireless<br \/>\n\u2022         Andrew Dunkin, Vodafone<\/p>\n<p>Small Cell Forum\u2019s growing membership reflects building momentum as the organization kicks off its new work programs aimed at delivering the enabling technologies and architecture that will underpin 5G. Membership already includes leading mobile and broadband network operators, service providers, technology providers and partners and media players from across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. Existing members include AT&#038;T, BT, Cable &#038; Wireless, China Telecom, Cisco Systems, Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, KT Corporation, Nokia, Orange and Telef\u00f3nica. Collectively, SCF operator members serve more than 2 billion subscribers and operate more than 15 million hotspots globally.<\/p>\n<p>These announcements coincide with Small Cell Forum\u2019s 33rd Plenary in Rome, where it launched new work programs that brings together all its key work initiatives into two high-impact streams \u2013 \u2018Deploying Hyperdense Networks\u2019 and \u2018Enabling Digitized Enterprise\u2019. These tie together all the Forum\u2019s projects across the HetNet and create a powerful framework for the transition to 5G.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith 5G on the horizon, Small Cell Forum is focused on delivering the enabling technologies and architecture to ensure the automation, service delivery and interoperability required to make it a success,\u201d said David Orloff, Chair Elect of Small Cell Forum. \u201cOur new members bring valuable expertise from across the mobile and internet ecosystems.
