According to Vertical Systems Group, Carrier Ethernet business-class service bandwidth is expected to surpass 75% of total global business bandwidth by 2017. Service providers increasingly rely on MPLS-TP to connect Carrier Ethernet access networks to existing IP/MPLS core networks for delivery of business-class MEF CE 2.0 services.

To support this mounting service provider need, Vitesse Semiconductor announced availability of an MPLS-TP protocol software module for its CEServices™ software.
