{"id":2062,"date":"2013-03-25T12:44:06","date_gmt":"2013-03-25T12:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.telecomstalk.com\/?p=2062"},"modified":"2018-06-06T10:14:41","modified_gmt":"2018-06-06T10:14:41","slug":"digital-scotland-conference-to-provide-insights-into-a-world-class-vision-for-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.telecomstalk.com\/?p=2062","title":{"rendered":"Digital Scotland Conference to provide Insights into a World Class Vision for 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A one day Digital Scotland 2013 conference, hosted by the Scottish Government is set to explore a vision for Scotland to be a world class digital nation by 2020.<!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>The conference is a key event in the Scotland\u2019s Digital Dialogue, an ongoing programme of engagement between the Government and public and private sector organisations and companies to ensure that Scotland is well positioned to take full advantage of the opportunities of the digital age. <\/p>\n<p>The event at Heriot-Watt University\u2019s Edinburgh Conference Centre on 22 May will include a series of presentations and workshops, alongside an exhibition area demonstrating activities and solutions from across Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon will deliver the opening keynote speech on the first morning of the event.  Ms Sturgeon said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Scottish Government is committed to delivering world class infrastructure across Scotland by 2020.  This conference will allow us to engage with digital leaders and discuss how we can deliver world class connectivity for the people of Scotland. This will be vital in order to stimulate debate, capture ideas and showcase Scotland\u2019s existing strengths in the digital arena.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Alongside the keynote address, the agenda includes smart cities, rural challenges, applications of the future, digital services and mobile technologies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDigital Scotland 2013 brings together the perspectives of the Scottish Government, civic and local authorities, community leaders and key business enterprises to work towards a shared vision for a world-class digital infrastructure for Scotland within seven years.
