From pre-testing to full BBF.247 certification of Optical Network Units (ONU), LAN is preparing for the growing demand for interoperability test services in G-PON systems. The company, based in a prestigious, purpose-built technology centre in Tours, Loire Valley, France, is the official test house for a set of key emerging technologies, including FFTH/G-PON, SmartHome and Smart Grid technologies. LAN is now also offering a range of pre-test services to support manufacturers in their cost-effective development of market-ready, interoperable products with an optimal time-to-market.

“The support services we offer now range from pre-testing sessions, analysis, and debugging to full certification,” said Hervé Mary, Managing Director of LAN Digital Applications Laboratory. “This gives telecoms equipment manufacturers the best guarantee of interoperability for their solution, with the shortest time to market and lowest possible development costs.

“We see our role as that of an ‘interoperability catalyst’ on emerging collaborative and complex network ecosystems, ensuring that products develop in the right way towards compliance with the approved standards so that they ultimately achieve the desired certification.”

LAN has been selected by the Broadband Forum as the official Test Agency authorised to administer the approved BBF.247 tests and to assess the eligibility of products for the Broadband Forum BBF.247 Certification. The company has also emerged as a leading Certification Lab for a range of other telecom access SmartHome and Smart Grid technologies, including xDSL, PLC, HomePlug and G3-PLC.

LAN works closely with MT2, www.mt2.fr, the leading manufacturer of G-PON testing tools. Designed to meet the BBF.247 ONU Certification program, MT2’s OLT emulator and G-PON analyzer are independent of any chipset or other commercial components, thereby offering total neutrality.

“There is now widespread acceptance of Certification programmes as the best means of ensuring interoperability,” said Hervé Mary. “G-PON is a prime example of how this has become a critical business imperative for vendors and a key deciding factor for service providers in their choice of G-PON ONUs. The programme continues to draw new participants. We are currently involved in supporting the development of further test plans for the next stages of the Broadband Forum’s G-PON Certification Program.”

Robin Mersh, CEO of the Broadband Forum, said: “The expertise that LAN Laboratories have brought to our G-PON Certification programme has been instrumental in helping us to achieve the results we have so far, with more and more vendors now taking the certification path. We continue to work closely with LAN as G-PON Certification develops into new product areas, to the benefit of operators, vendors and consumers.”

Testing acts as ‘interoperability catalyst’ for G-PON, SmartHome, SmartGrid and other emerging technologies Read More

[71
post-1371","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","tag-lan
["GET
