Editor

Shazam will join a host of industry experts and thought-leaders at London’s Olympia next month for the leading global event in connected entertainment. IP&TV World Forum organisers have today announced that Andrew Fisher, CEO of Shazam, will give a keynote on day one of the event, discussing the app’s expansion beyond music discovery to working with major broadcasters and brands.

Shazam has more than 180 million mobile users with 1.5 million more every week, and has expanded the business into the social TV space with the launch of Shazam for TV in 2011. It is now the leader in second-screen interactive television. Shazam for TV allows the user to unlock content on ‘Shazam-enabled’ shows including extra scenes, downloadable wallpaper, competitions and the ability to share on Twitter and Facebook. Shazam’s recent content partnerships include ESPN, SyFy, USA and E!

Fisher, who was appointed as CEO of Shazam in 2005, has been responsible for driving the company’s strategic focus and has led the execution of this in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Fisher says: “Consumer viewing behaviour and participation is rapidly evolving and so the move into social TV was a natural progression for Shazam. As one of Europe’s biggest industry events, IP&TV World Forum provides the perfect opportunity to discuss our success and the future of connected entertainment. There’s significant opportunities for broadcasters and advertisers to use Shazam to augment their service and deliver a more interactive and immersive experience for the audience.”
