Industry Consortium Shaping Broadband Wireline and Ethernet Network Evolution

Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: VTSS), a leading provider of advanced IC solutions for Carrier and Enterprise networks, is now a member of the Broadband Forum, a leading industry consortium comprised of over 200 service providers, equipment manufacturers, and other organizations. The Broadband Forum shapes the future of packet-based Ethernet networks by helping service providers optimize their standards-based broadband network deployments.

Robin Mersh, CEO of the Broadband Forum, welcomed Vitesse Semiconductor, saying: “We look forward to the contributions Vitesse Semiconductor will bring to the Broadband Forum, especially in light of the ever increasing Ethernet IP convergence in broadband networks. Vitesse’s input is welcomed as
we evolve packet-based network management specification and optimization.”

“Vitesse has a rich history developing technologies and solutions for communications networks,” said Martin Nuss, CTO at Vitesse. “As Ethernet permeates global broadband networks, we constantly seek ways to better understand and serve the needs of service providers and their customers. Our technical experts look forward to working with the other Broadband Forum members to standardize the technical specifications and best practices needed for tomorrow’s Ethernet-based broadband networks.”
