{"id":6773,"date":"2017-03-21T09:27:53","date_gmt":"2017-03-21T09:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.telecomstalk.com\/?p=6773"},"modified":"2018-06-06T09:54:53","modified_gmt":"2018-06-06T09:54:53","slug":"norways-national-communications-authority-reveals-achieve-future-proof-wireless-networks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.telecomstalk.com\/?p=6773","title":{"rendered":"Norway\u2019s National Communications Authority reveals how to achieve future-proof wireless networks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Internet service providers from across Europe have been given insight from Norway\u2019s National Communications Authority on how to future-proof their wireless infrastructures within regulations to help deliver on the promise of superfast broadband.<\/p>\n<p>The event sponsored by Avantis attracted more than 70 attendees and provided an overview of key considerations when delivering connectivity over wireless networks, including the importance of regulations, use of different frequencies and licensed backhaul.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\t\u2018Is your wireless infrastructure ready for the future?\u2019 featured Gordana Lunestad, senior engineer at Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority (Nkom).<br \/>\n\u2022\t\u2018Moving the last mile?\u2019 featured Torgeir Waterhouse, ICT Norway\u2019s Director of Internet and New Media.<br \/>\n\u2022\t\u2018Wireless Fibre: Challenges and Experiences\u2019 featured Jan-Tore Dannemark, Manager of Brieband.no.<br \/>\n\u2022\t\u2018Proven Wireless Solutions\u2019 was delivered by Simon Staddon, Regional Technical Manager at Cambium Networks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFibre provides fast connectivity, but is not cost-effective for many last-mile applications, and this is where a robust wireless network is absolutely vital,\u201d said Dan McCarthy, Cambium Networks\u2019 UK sales manager for the UK, Ireland and Nordics. \u201cOf course, with end-users\u2019 desire for speed and capacity continuing to grow, the quality of wireless experience and speeds must be on a par with those of fibre. The seminar aims to highlight to service providers the methodology and technologies required to achieve high performance. The good news is that this can be achieved without completely overhauling or replacing existing networks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As they aim to meet the increasing demand for connectivity, some wireless service providers cannot deliver the required throughput to end-users due to limitations of their existing 802.11n-based hardware. To overcome this challenge, Cambium Networks outlined how installing ePMP Elevate software enhances subscriber modules from other manufacturers and brings industry-leading performance and scalability to existing infrastructures without the time and cost of replacing network customer premise equipment (CPE).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany wireless broadband network operators started out years ago with small networks, but as demand for connectivity has grown, their existing networks cannot effectively scale. ePMP Elevate adds critical features to their 802.11n-based installed equipment and positions them for growth and increased customer satisfaction,\u201d added McCarthy. <\/p>\n<p>The seminar was the first in a series of Cambium Networks Roadshows.
