(000810.SZ), a global provider of smart home solutions and the world\u2019s fourth largest set-top box manufacturer, today launched its new range of DVB-T2 High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) solutions which supports a variety of features and offers operators a new generation of future-proof terrestrial receivers.<\/p>\n<p>HEVC \u2013 the new video compression standard and successor of the current H.264\/MPEG-4 AVC standard \u2013 is able to either obtain a much better image quality with the same bit rate or achieve higher data compression while maintaining image quality by halving the file size. As a new standard that allows for better compression, HEVC guarantees that boxes deployed today will work on the systems of tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Skyworth\u2019s solution provides end-users with an advanced and inexpensive way to access the new channels enabled by the network immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGermany is taking the lead in migrating from DVB-T to DVB-T2 with HEVC and other countries are expected to follow,\u201d said Ang\u00e9lique Boissy, VP Global Sales at Skyworth Digital. \u201cWith Germany making this commitment to the DVB-T2\/HEVC network and enabling HD on DTT in the country for the first time, this is the perfect time to make our solution available.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to focusing on the terrestrial market, this new series of receivers will also be available with a number of conditional access platforms and middleware options.
