Shenzhen Skyworth Digital Technology Co., LTD. (000810.SZ), a global provider of smart home solutions and the world\u2019s fourth largest set-top box manufacturer, today launched its new range of DVB-T2 High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) solutions which supports a variety of features and offers operators a new generation of future-proof terrestrial receivers.<\/p>\n

HEVC \u2013 the new video compression standard and successor of the current H.264\/MPEG-4 AVC standard \u2013 is able to either obtain a much better image quality with the same bit rate or achieve higher data compression while maintaining image quality by halving the file size. As a new standard that allows for better compression, HEVC guarantees that boxes deployed today will work on the systems of tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Skyworth\u2019s solution provides end-users with an advanced and inexpensive way to access the new channels enabled by the network immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cGermany is taking the lead in migrating from DVB-T to DVB-T2 with HEVC and other countries are expected to follow,\u201d said Ang\u00e9lique Boissy, VP Global Sales at Skyworth Digital. \u201cWith Germany making this commitment to the DVB-T2\/HEVC network and enabling HD on DTT in the country for the first time, this is the perfect time to make our solution available.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to focusing on the terrestrial market, this new series of receivers will also be available with a number of conditional access platforms and middleware options. The DVB-T2 HEVC solutions feature internet access for streaming content and USB-PVR for recording.<\/p>\n

Skyworth Digital has also revealed its plans to showcase the digital home of the future at IBC 2015 in Amsterdam this weekend. <\/p>\n

Incorporating the latest technologies, trends and concepts \u2013 including Ultra-High Definition (UHD), Integrated Social Media, Multi-Screen\/TV Anywhere solutions, Home Automation and Mobile Integration \u2013 Skyworth Digital plans to highlight how tomorrow\u2019s trends can be integrated and packaged for end-users in the future.<\/p>\n
